Monarch Receives Variety of Grants to Support COVID-19 Response

Monarch has received generous financial assistance in addition to donated supplies to help the individuals supported and staff to assist in staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The past few months during COVID-19 have been difficult for everyone. We greatly appreciate these community agencies come to our aid with grants, donations and supplies,” said Monarch President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Peggy Terhune. “These grants will ensure that our services continue safely throughout the pandemic.”

The following agencies have provided Monarch with assistance:

• Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, $3.9 million: The Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in Stanly County was awarded an additional, two-year federal grant to continue providing critical, whole-person centered care focusing on comprehensive mental health programs and substance use disorder services through April 2022.
• State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Foundation, $100,000: This grant will support the costs associated with lost program revenue, hazard pay for frontline staff, PPE and other expenses incurred during COVID-19. Monarch has a strong partnership with the Foundation that began with a large grant which helped establish the SECU Youth Crisis Center in Charlotte in late 2017.
• United Way of the Greater Triangle, $5,000: This donation will offset the $50,000 cost of purchasing in PPE and supply costs that Monarch has incurred to date.
• Greensboro Virus Relief Task Force, $4,500: The Greensboro Virus Relief Task Force awarded funds to be used to purchase PPE and cleaning supplies at the Bellemeade Outpatient and Facility-Based location.
• Gaston County Virus Relief Fund, $2,500: Funds from this grant will help purchase cleaning supplies to be used during COVID-19 at the Behavioral Health outpatient location in Gaston County.
• Carteret County Emergency Medical Services, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): The Carteret County EMS provided face shields, disposable gloves, face masks and shoe covers to the Schooner Shores group home in Beaufort to be used by staff and residents.
