Monarch’s Studio 651 Among Recipients of Internal Grant
Creative art supplies and materials. Health and wellness equipment. Training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. These are just a few of the projects that Monarch’s internal grants funded this year.
Each year, Monarch hosts two golf tournament fundraisers and the proceeds from those tournaments are combined with gifts from generous individual donors to support our internal grant program. This year, more than $30,000 was available for internal grants for creative programs and initiatives that help us meet our strategic objectives and better serve the people we support.
“These grants help Monarch improve existing programs or start new ones,” said Laurie Weaver, Senior Director of Philanthropy. “We are grateful to the donors and supporters who make this possible.”
This is the second year that internal grants have been awarded through a competitive application process, which occurred in the fall. Group homes, day programs and behavioral health sites all received grants.
“We look forward to continuing this process later this year, when applications will be available for 2018 funding,” said Weaver. “It’s not too early for programs and sites to think about ideas they may have.”
This year’s recipients include:
• Studio 651 (Winston –Salem) for creative arts supplies and equipment.
• Southeast Industrial Center (Lumberton) for creative arts supplies and equipment.
• Charlotte St. Home (Hamlet) for smart home technology.
• Pennsylvania St. Home (Southern Pines) for health and wellness programming.
• Middleton Home (Robbins) for stationary bicycle and wellness programming.
• Behavioral Health Services (Charlotte) to pilot a program for staff training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
• Behavioral Health Services (Raleigh) to train Monarch staff in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for Individuals and Community Groups, enabling therapists to better respond to large scale emergency situations like Hurricane Matthew.
