Legacy of Healing: Monarch Celebrates 64 Years of Service

Wednesday, April 27 marks Monarch’s 64th anniversary recognizing a life-changing, healing legacy. On this date in 1958, a group of families and concerned citizens gathered in Albemarle, North Carolina, to talk about how to better advocate and care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). At the time, this group didn’t realize or envision how years later Monarch services would expand, grow and offer hope for thousands of individuals and families across North Carolina.

Services offered include not only I/DD services, but have grown to offer help to people with mental illness, substance use disorders and traumatic brain injuries. Our capacity to serve has continued to grow.

Take a look at this video as some of our staff and the people we support across the state wish Monarch a happy anniversary!
