People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) have unique challenges that can affect various aspects of their physical, intellectual and emotional development. These differences often impact how an individual learns, interacts with others and navigates daily life. I/DD encompasses a wide range of conditions, but they all share the common feature of affecting the way a person experiences and engages with the world.
Living with an I/DD may require ongoing care and support throughout a person’s life, and each individual’s needs may vary depending on the severity of their condition. It’s important to recognize that people with I/DD are more than their diagnoses—they are individuals with unique talents, strengths and perspectives. With appropriate interventions, including therapy, education and support systems, individuals with I/DD can develop life skills, achieve goals and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
At Monarch, we provide a range of programs and services designed to improve the lives of people with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, autism spectrum disorders and other conditions. Our mission is to ensure that every person, regardless of their challenges, has the opportunity to live a life of dignity, independence and fulfillment.
