The Dream Revolution

Monarch CEO, Dr. Peggy S. Terhune sees the PSAs as a means of creating “a better understanding of the people we support. At the same time, we want to empower those we serve with means to pursue their dreams. Everyone has the right to dream. By providing connections within the community and personalized support, Monarch is working to make the Dream Revolution a reality.”

The spots feature vignettes based on true stories of individuals who have overcome hurdles in life to achieve their dreams: everything from living independently to acquiring skills and finding employment to overcoming substance abuse.

Director/Producer Chris Stevens of Mad Toy Box Films said the aim was to “capture the importance of the message within beautiful, contemporary images of hope and inspiration. Underscoring the contemporary theme, we were able to gain permission to use the song, “1,2,3,4” by Plain White T’s through P.O.C. Media in Philadelphia.” Having the PSAs run on 13 different Time Warner cable stations (like CNBC, MSNBC, The History Channel, Travel Channel, TLC, as well as others) in all 44 of Monarch’s service areas in synch with a heavy rotation of the song on radio is designed keep Monarch’s message top-of-mind beyond the TV airings. Stevens added, “the song’s message of caring is a perfect fit with the message of Monarch.”

The new PSAs will begin in early February and run through April, 2009 in all of Monarch’s 44-county service area throughout North Carolina. The PSAs will be posted on each organization’s website, YouTube, and on a variety of human service focused social networking sites.
