Alternative Family Living (AFL) homes give people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the chance to live with a licensed family that provides them with care and support. Living in an AFL home helps the person feel like they belong while gaining more independence. They become part of a new family and can explore opportunities like school, work, volunteering, community activities and family events.

Monarch currently provides AFL services  in Cabarrus, Forsyth, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Moore, Richmond and Stanly counties.
