Monarch’s Wake Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) is a walk-in service for people ages 4 and older with mental health and substance use disorders who are experiencing a crisis. The BHUC serves Wake County and surrounding areas. The behavioral health urgent care is an appropriate alternative to the emergency room for someone who needs mental health support.
No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome.
The Wake County BHUC is located at:
319 Chapanoke Road, Suite 120
Raleigh, NC 27603
Hours of operation:
Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
(Last patients are registered one hour before closing.)
During a visit, a team of licensed therapists and skilled medical professionals work together to assess and stabilize people and connect them to longer term care as needed.
This service makes sure that people receive the right type of care to support their recovery without unnecessary restrictions. If someone needs to be involuntarily committed for their safety, the BHUC can start that process following initial evaluations.

What to Expect During Your Visit
- We will get to know you by collecting basic information such as your address, details about your insurance coverage, and the reason for your visit. A member of our team will use that information to register you.
- A member of our nursing team will escort you to a private exam room and collect some basic information about your medical condition and your health history.
- Once your nursing exam is complete, a therapist will come to your exam room to collect more information about why you’re here, your past medical history, and any other details needed to determine what services will be best for you.
- The therapist will give you instructions about the next steps in your care. You may be referred to see a psychiatrist, a psychiatric nurse practitioner or another member of our team to complete your care and determine follow-up plans. This part of your visit will occur either in-person or via telemedicine. If you are unfamiliar with telemedicine, please ask the therapist for more details.
- A member of your administrative team will check you out, provide you with a summary of your visit, and schedule a follow-up appointment for you. The follow-up appointment will be with the provider or agency recommended by the team members who saw you today.
