For some people, recovery from mental illness is a long and especially challenging road. For adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), Monarch provides Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) services. These programs use evidence-based practices to empower individuals with the skills they need to engage as active members of their community.

A psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) program is designed to help individuals with mental health issues or emotional difficulties improve their daily functioning and quality of life. By attending a PSR program, individuals focus on enhancing social skills, life skills and coping strategies through various supportive activities and interventions. Key components often include:

  • Skill Development: Teaching practical skills like budgeting, cooking and job readiness to help individuals live more independently.
  • Social Skills Training: Helping participants improve their ability to interact with others, make friends and build relationships.
  • Supportive Counseling: Providing emotional support and guidance to help individuals cope with their mental health challenges.
  • Goal Setting: Assisting participants in setting and achieving personal goals related to their recovery and daily living.
  • Community Integration: Encouraging participation in community activities and resources to foster a sense of belonging and support.
  • Group Activities: Offering group sessions for social interaction, shared experiences and peer support.

The overall aim of psychosocial rehabilitation is to empower individuals, helping them to lead fulfilling lives and manage their mental health effectively.
