Monarch Apartments

Monarch’s supervised apartments support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental illness, or both. Supervision includes periodic staff visits, on-call support, and minimal guidance with life skills. Staff may assist residents in obtaining local resources such as transportation, health care, groceries and other basic needs to ensure successful independent living.  

Individuals residing in a Monarch apartment may also be eligible forcommunity-based supportive services.  

Monarch provides supervised apartment options in Beaufort, Edgecombe, Gaston, Guilford, Johnston, Moore, Pitt, Polk, Richmond, Rutherford, Stanly, and Stokes counties in North Carolina.

Funding

Monarch apartments are funded by: 

  1. Monthly Rent: The amount is based on the individual’s income and determined by HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development). Approved Monarch applicants must meet HUD eligibility criteria and be approved by HUD before being admitted into an apartment. Monarch staff will assist individuals with this HUD application process. In addition to:

  2. Daily Service Fee: The daily service fee covers staffing and therapeutic services provided in the home. This is authorized through a person’s local Managed Care Organization (MCO) and paid for by the North Carolina Innovations Waiver, North Carolina Medicaid, or state funds. This fee can also be paid privately. The daily service fee varies by individual needs and is subject to change. Please contact us for the current rates.
