A Message from Melissa Henderson

Hello, I’m Melissa Henderson, a compassionate and dedicated Nurse Practitioner, who brings over two decades of healthcare experience to my role at Monarch’s Behavioral Health Outpatient Office in Lumberton.

Prior to joining Monarch, I spent 18 years working in a small community hospital emergency room (ER), where I strengthened my skills and became passionate about providing mental health and substance abuse care. I approach each day with a deep understanding of the impact of mental health challenges, drawing from my personal experiences growing up in a family affected by mental illness. I think it’s important to treat you with dignity, pay attention to your needs, and involve you in your care journey. My favorite phrases: “Mental health is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a medical problem just like diabetes and high blood pressure. We all have some type of mental health issue-anxiety, depression. We are a TEAM. It takes me and you to make this work.”
