Nurse Practitioner

A Message from Kelli Thompson

Hello, I’m Kellie Thompson, a PMHNP working at Monarch’s Behavioral Health Outpatient Office in Lumberton. I have over 17 years of nursing experience including mental health and substance use services. Prior to working as the Director of Crisis Services in Lumberton for five years, I worked at UNC Southeastern as a registered nurse in various areas such as emergency room, psychiatry, critical care, and home health.

My approach to patient care is simple – listen first.  I ensure that all patients are met with compassion, empathy and patient-centered care. Every patient is unique and requires holistic integrated care to live their best quality of life. Growing up in rural NC, mental health was not addressed publicly and pushed under the table. I have a calling to serve those faced with mental health illnesses and substance use disorders.

In 2019 I had a close family member who died from an overdose and once the initial shock passed, I knew at that moment in time people needed to know that help is available. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my daughter whether that be watching a movie, attending her next dance competition/recital, or being near a body of water in the sun. I look forward to working together as a team while witnessing patients transform their lives.
