Monarch hosts groundbreaking for community garden in Albemarle Nov. 27

Representatives from several community groups, including the county’s cooperative extension service and Stanly Community College, have participated in the garden’s progress. Plans are underway to establish a garden advisory committee comprised of people supported by Monarch, families, faith-based leaders, elected officials, area residents and representatives from various organizations within Stanly County. This effort will help to continue to foster relationships throughout the community, establish more partnerships with local agencies and to build a bridge of inclusion between the people Monarch supports and the community.

The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking to see the garden firsthand and to learn more about the plans for the community initiative. For details about the garden or the groundbreaking, please contact Kerry Martin at (704) 986-7283 or
