Monarch to Host American Red Cross Blood Drive and Art Show Friday, February 2

According to the American Red Cross, someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds.

One blood donation can potentially help more than one person. On Friday, February 2, 2018 Monarch will host the American Red Cross Bus at Stanly Industrial Services (SIS), located at 730 Greenwood Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Blood donations will be taken from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

SIS will also be hosting their first art show of the year and welcome everyone to check out and purchase pieces created by the people we support. They are currently focusing on mixed media and abstract acrylic art.

“Art provides a means for the people supported to express their feelings, emotions and creativity. The people supported take pride in their work, so art builds self-worth and confidence. There are no boundaries or restrictions of expression in the arts. Art is simply communication,” said Mary Lotharp, community engagement team leader.

To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: Monarch. You can also download the Blood Donor app.

Streamline your donation experience and save up to 15 minutes by visiting RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass to complete your pre-donation reading and health history questions on the day of your appointment.

Here are some of the benefits of donating blood with the American Red Cross:

  • It feels great to donate!
  • You get free juice and delicious cookies.
  • It’s something you can spare – most people have blood to spare… yet, there is still not enough to go around.
  • You will help ensure blood is on the shelf when needed – most people don’t think they’ll ever need blood, but many do.
  • You will be someone’s hero – in fact, you could help save more than one life with just one donation.
