Monarch Long-Term Group Homes

Monarch’s long-term group homes are for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental illness or both and are designed to foster independence and encourage personal growth. Monarch’s direct support professionals support these individuals to maximize their potential in all areas of life. Our residents learn to care for their own home and build relationships at home and in the community. Monarch staff help residents find jobs, manage their money, take classes, volunteer, go shopping and pursue other interests.

Funding

Group home living is funded by:

  1. Monthly Room and Board: $1,182 per month. Monthly room and board costs cover the rent, utilities, food, and household supplies and is funded through the resident’s Social Security Income / Social Security Disability Income (SSI/SSDI), Medicaid Special Assistance or private pay. In addition to:
     
  2. Daily Service Fee: The daily service fee covers staffing and therapeutic services provided in the home. This is authorized through a person’s local Managed Care Organization (MCO) and paid for by the North Carolina Innovations Waiver, North Carolina Medicaid, or state funds. This fee can also be paid privately. The daily service fee varies by home and is subject to change. Please contact us for the current rates.

Levels of Care

For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Monarch offers the following levels of group home services: 

  1. Group Living Moderate group home services are for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who need minimal assistance with activities of daily living. Staff are on site 24/7 but usually are asleep during night hours.

  2. Group Living Low group home services are for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who can perform activities of daily living independently but may require daily support from staff to maintain a safe and healthy living situation. 

Monarch provides I/DD group home services in Anson, Cabarrus, Carteret, Craven, Edgecombe, Gaston, Guilford, Hoke, Johnston, Jones, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Randolph, Richmond, Rutherford, Stanly, and Union counties. 

For individuals living with mental illness, Monarch offers the following levels of group home services:

  1. Group Living High group home services are for people who are transitioning from a psychiatric facility or for individuals with a long history of mental illness. Monarch staff is on site 24 hours per day, seven days per week to address the immediate needs of people supported.
  2. Group Living Moderate group home services are for people with mental illness who need assistance with maintaining a healthy and safe living situation. Staff are on site 24 hours per day, seven days per week but usually are asleep during night hours.
  3. Group Living Low group home services provide support for people with mental illness who are mostly independent, but who still require daily assistance from staff to maintain safe and healthy living conditions.

Monarch provides mental health group home services in Beaufort, Cabarrus, Craven, Harnett, Lee, Mecklenburg, Richmond, Rutherford, Stanly and Union counties.
