Monarch’s Creative Arts and Community Center (MCACC), 1662 Richards Street in Southern Pines, will host a series of four, family friendly outdoor events called Monarch Under the Stars beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 12, June 9, September 8 and October 13. The free community events will feature live music from local musical artists and groups, art classes for adults and children, food trucks and other fun activities such as outdoor bowling and corn hole.

For adult participation in the art classes, there will be a $20 fee to cover supplies while children 12 and under are free. Classes will include pottery, glass, flower press and additional mediums. MCACC’s “Monarch Gallery: Where Art Takes Flight” will be open featuring handmade pottery and artwork crafted by day program attendees.

Families are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the outdoor festivities. The events are free and open to the public, and activities will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.

Artwork for the event was created by MCACC artist Josh Galbicsek. For more information, please contact MCACC Community Engagement Team Leader Megan Tomestic at [email protected].
