A Collection of Abstract Art at MCACC

From beautiful colors to bold shapes and designs, the artists at Monarch’s Creative Arts and Community Center (MCACC) in Southern Pines will showcase “Beyond Reality: A Collection of Abstract Art” from noon to 3 p.m., on Friday, August 16, at the day program located at 1662 Richards St. in Southern Pines.

MCACC Community Engagement Team Leader Bob Huber is thrilled to present day program attendees’ paintings and pottery. The exhibit will also feature artists from the Artist’s League of the Sandhills and the Sanford Brush and Palette Guild.

The MCACC event will be interactive. Attendees will have the opportunity to collaboratively create an abstract painting, tour the facility and meet the artists. Light snacks and coffee, donated by the local Starbucks, will be provided. The event is free of charge and is open to the public.

“We are excited and proud to showcase the work of the people we support. Our artists are passionate about their craft and convey their unique ideas of abstract art,” Huber said.

MCACC’s “Monarch Gallery: Where Art Takes Flight” opened last year and features handmade pottery and artwork by people Monarch supports. The gallery operates during 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. In addition, the gallery also alternates exhibits of local artist’s works.

Monarch is accredited by The Joint Commission. The organization operates The Arc of Stanly County, which is a chapter of The Arc of North Carolina and The Arc of the United States or visit www.MonarchNC.org.
