May is Mental Health Month and the latest data from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) indicates that 1 in 5 adults nationwide experience mental illness each year, but less than half get treatment. Also, youth, mental health is worsening with 9.7 percent reporting severe major depression. NAMI reports that throughout the pandemic youth ages 11-17 have been more likely than any other age group to score for moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Mental Health Month’s goal is to shine a light on the success stories of people who have reached out for help and who are healing, and the mental health services available to individuals who need it.
