Drs. Robin Cummings, Terhune to discuss Medicaid Reform
Dr. Robin Cummings, M.D. was appointed to the position of Deputy Secretary for Health Services in the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services in August 2013. He also serves as the acting State Health Director. Recently, he was appointed to lead Medicaid transformation across the state. Cummings joined DHHS in March 2013 to lead the Office of Rural Health and Community Care. He is board certified in general surgery, as well as cardiothoracic surgery, and practiced cardiac surgery in Pinehurst until his retirement in 2004.
Dr. Peggy Terhune, Ph.D. is the Executive Director of The Arc of Stanly and CEO of Monarch. She is an active member of several prominent state committees and served as an appointee of Gov. Pat McCrory to the N.C. Developmental Disabilities Council and the Medicaid Reform Advisory Group, which collaborated with DHHS in its development of a detailed plan to reform North Carolina’s Medicaid system.
