Monarch's Dream Makers: Direct Support Professionals
Thank you for your interest in a Direct Support Professional position at Monarch. We believe the approximately 1,000 Direct Support Professionals who hold these positions are among the most important roles within our organization. Direct Support Professionals provide care and work directly with the people we support with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health disorders with the goal of helping people to become integrated within their communities. At Monarch, we support, educate and empower people to choose and achieve what is important to them. Please take a few minutes to watch the video below that highlights the responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional to determine whether this fulfilling opportunity is the right role for you.
A Direct Support Professional helps people to lead self-directed lives, assist with activities of daily living and encourage community inclusion. They may provide supports to a person at home, work, school, church, etc. Direct Support Professionals serve as advocates for people, in communicating their needs, self-expression and goals.
At Monarch, we provide training, educational and advancement opportunities for Direct Support Professionals through a variety of initiatives, including the Long Term-Services and Supports Leadership Academy, that improve recognition, knowledge and skills. In 2020, Monarch’s day programs received the i2i Center for Integrative Health’s 2020 Connections Challenge Award, which recognized “an organization that was able to carry out a program or activity that resulted in an increase in social connectedness for individuals in the service system during COVID-19.” Direct support professionals are an integral part of the day programs receiving this award. Monarch also received the 2014 Moving Mountains Award for its commitment to the professional development of Direct Support Professionals.
Thank you for your interest in a Direct Support Professional position with Monarch. We believe Direct Support Professionals are one of the most important roles within our organization. Monarch is an exciting place to work and helping people achieve their dreams is at the core of what we do. We hope you will consider joining our team!
